Dairy Grain Premixes

Dairytech Nutrition manufacture dairy premixes. Our base product is the Dairytech 50 premix, a Rumensin/Tylan/Biotin/trace mineral premix. This premix has been developed from scientific research on lactating dairy cows and modified to accomodate variations in Australian grazing scenarios. In 2010 we added Biotin for its benefits in lameness.

Rumensin has been widely used in Australian dairying for many years and proven its worth, increasing energy utilization from any given feed. Rumensin has a very large body of research data behind it, and continues to grow with ever increasing positive results.
Rumensin’s sister product, Tylan, has now established itself as a superior manager of rumen pH. We have observed, and it is supported by research data, that the combination of Rumensin and Tylan have synergetic effects in improved rumen environment health.
Dairytech Nutrition can manufacture any combination of minerals and other additives to client’s specifications.

According to our client’s or their grain mills needs, we can produce premixes in either pellet or powder form. In pelleted form, we usually pelletise ‘micro’ ingredients – Rumensin/Tylan/Biotin/Trace minerals. Macro elements such as lime, salt, MagOx and Magnesium Sulphate are better added at mixing from a cost perspective.

Anionic salts, or Lead Feed concentrate we usually script as powders to be mixed into a Lead Feed grain mix at the mill. We have developed sound DCAD protocols for any given scenario. That is, we calculate DCAD required for adequate and effective minimisation of milk fever, ketosis, DA’s, all of which can predispose the fresh cow to metritis and mastitis through compromised immunity, based on forages available at any given time. It is potassium content of forages fed to springing cows that causes most transition metabolic problems. Having a correct DCAD in the Lead Feed grain mix can balance out any given potassium load in forage.
Transition Management

Although at this time Dairytech Nutrition does not have any calf/heifer specific products due to our recommendations on nutrition of these two classes of dairy livestock (Calf Rearing, Growing Heifers), we are developing one product in conjunction with an overseas company to address a major flaw in calf survival, and have another product currently under trial in Australian conditions for the production of sound Australian support data. We expect both these products to be available in 2012.

Calf survival and growth can be reduced to two aspects: immune transfer and rumen developement – both subjects addressed in our library articles.
Similarly, library articles on growing heifers reinforce constant energy/protein nutrition throughout the two years to freshening.
